Shane is not in love with Lori and never has been. He has never looked at Lori the wrong way before the ZA. He does love her in a platonic way, and after the ZA this turns into an unhealthy obsession due to stress and grief etc, and he thinks he loves her. Lori being pregnant drives him further into believing this and makes his mental health a lot worse. 

Female teachers were not the only teachers Shane screwed in high school.

Shane exploding and unleashing a can of whoopass rage is, in fact, not uncommon, but definitely happens a lot more in the ZA than before the turn due to added stress factors. Even saying things like “I’m a better man than you” to Rick has happened before the turn, but he never truly means it.

No matter what, Shane will always love Rick and that’s that, even if he also would like to murder him at times in the ZA. 

​

Shane was content with his life before the ZA and did not envy Rick having a family at all. As close as Shane and Rick were, Shane counted the Grimes as his family and was perfectly happy with that. He probably spent a lot of time at the Grimes’ place, and with tons of energy, he’s the perfect babysitter for Carl.

Shane has undiagnosed cyclothymia, which is alternating hypomania and mild depressive episodes. Hypomania can make him irritable and more aggressive, impulsive, talks a lot and fast and changes topics, and sometimes does really strange things.

​

He was thrown out of the house as a teenager because he came out as bisexual to his parents, in maybe a too blunt and aggressive manner.
